Former University of Michigan Football Players’ Publicity-Rights Class Action

Ongoing Litigation

Four former University of Michigan football players allege that the NCAA, Big Ten Network, and Big Ten Conference used athletes’ names, images, and likenesses in broadcasts, archived footage, merchandise, and promotional content without compensation, and that NCAA rules restricted athletes’ publicity rights. The proposed class action is currently on appeal in the Sixth Circuit under Case No. 26-1890, following its filing in the district court in 2024.
