Mountain View RV and Trailer Parking Class Action Settlement

Mountain View residents filed a class action lawsuit in 2021 challenging city restrictions on parking RVs and trailers, alleging that the policies violated the constitutional rights of people living in vehicles. The city reached a settlement in 2022, which took full effect in February 2023 and requires specified street-parking capacity and related disclosures through February 28, 2027.

How to participate
Settlement Claim
People who resided or sought to reside in an oversized vehicle within Mountain View beginning December 18, 2020, through the conclusion of the settlement’s effective period are included. The class also includes qualifying people with disabilities under the ADA.

- This is a non-monetary, injunctive-relief settlement. Class members do not receive cash payments. The City must maintain at least three miles of street segments available for oversized-vehicle parking during the settlement’s effective period, provide and update a parking-restrictions map, follow specified notice requirements before most towing, and consider disability-based accommodation requests in good faith.
