Student Loan Credit Reporting Class Action Against the U.S. Department of Education

Borrowers allege that the U.S. Department of Education falsely reported significant and increasing federal student loan debts to consumer credit bureaus even though their obligations had been extinguished under a program for former students of several defunct for-profit colleges. The proposed class action was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and alleges violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
